You nerd!

This could have been me around 1985.

Windows or Linux? Don’t get me started. Too late. I got myself started.

I’ve learned that we must coexist. It doesn’t have to be ‘or’, it can be ‘and’. I’m a Linux guy, for me, there’s no other way. But, I still have to use Windows. So, there’s one Windows machine in the house, tucked away in a corner, accessed only by remote desktop.

You’ll pardon the mess, I’m sure. The TV on the top can also be the third monitor, if I switch inputs with the remote.

But, at the end of the day, your box is a highly personal thing. One of the things that came in the early 80’s, was machines that were largely compatible with everything. If you want to stuff 3 network cards in your machine, go right ahead!

I just bought the machine you see. It was the first time in my life I’d ever gone and purchased a brandy new computer. Of course, I always have to make it ‘better’, so I more or less voided the warranty 10 minutes after I got home, by installing the 2 additional internal drives, and additional RAM.

It’s not so different from people with their cars. People will go buy a new car, and proceed to make it ‘better’ in some way. Used to be first thing to be replaced was the radio, but modern factory audio has come a LONG way.
